Tuesday, November 30, 2010

Searching for a new home in Frederick, Maryland?  With gas prices over $3.00 a gallon, don’t waste your time driving around neighborhoods, picking up fliers, or getting your hands black from newsprint ads that are already out of date by the time you get them.

This blog is specifically about people looking for homes for sale in Frederick, but the information and tools listed below work for any region in the country.

Instead, use your keyboard, or your smart phone to do the work.  My list of favorite online tools:

  • Walkscore is a website that helps you see how “walkable” a neighborhood is.  If you value getting your staples without gassing up the, this tool will be helpful.
  • Transit Score is a sister site of Walkscore.  It shows the assessability of public transportation to  neighborhoods.
  • Frederick County Crime Map is an interactive map with real-time crime reports and general crime statistics.
  • Registered Offender List
  • Maryland City Data is a good site for statistical information.
  • Search for Homes in Frederick and surrounding counties with our Online MLS Search tool.  You can search by city, zip code or neighborhood.  You can search foreclosures or short sales.  You can search by price, or by single-family or townhouse or condo, or special features.  You can combine any of the above. You don’t have to register… you won’t be bothered. We respect your privacy. If you want to register your email, you can set up several searches and have yourself emailed when something new comes on the market that is within your saved parameters.  (Even then, we won't bother you:)
  • Realtor.com has a tool for your smart phone that’s really handy when you’re out and about and drive past a house that you fine interesting and want more information.
Happy Searching!
