Frederick Maryland is one of “10 Great Neighborhoods”.
The American Planning Association (APA) has a program called “Great Places in America”. The APA searches cities in America and finds Great Neighborhoods, recognizing communities with “better choices for where and how people work and live.” These communities have features that involve planning for accessibility, community involvement, and good use of streets, neighborhoods and public spaces.
Last week, the mayor received the award for Frederick, one of "Ten Great Neighborhoods". Congratulations to all those who had the vision and determination to make Frederick the great place to live that it is.
Frederick has received recognition in the past for its charm, thoughtful planning and livability. It received the “Great American Main Street Award” in 2005, and was named one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “Distinct Destinations” in 2002.
It looks like the APA has discovered what 60,000 Frederick residents know…Frederick Md is a great place to live:)
